Fractional COO · ERP · AI strategy
The operations leader your growing company doesn’t have yet.
I'm a fractional COO who builds out the process, connects the systems, and works out where AI belongs in them. Senior, hands-on, and focused on what your business needs this quarter.
Who this is for
Founder-led companies that have outgrown spreadsheets and heroics. Revenue is growing, the founder is still the bottleneck, the ERP is half-implemented or about to be, and no one owns the space between sales, finance, and fulfilment. You are also being asked what to do about AI. You need senior operating judgment, but not yet a full-time COO.
Services
Operations, systems, and AI, from strategy to follow-through
Fractional COO
A senior operations leader, part-time. I run the operating cadence, own the cross-functional follow-through, and manage the vendors and partners so priorities, owners, and dates stay honest.
AI opportunity assessment
I map how work really flows, then rank where AI can pay off by value, risk, and effort. You get a short list worth piloting and a clear answer on what to skip.
AI-enabled workflows
Document handling, forecasting support, reporting, and approvals designed with a human in the loop where it matters, piloted, measured, and handed to your team.
Process design
Order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, close, inventory, and the handoffs between them, documented as SOPs your team will follow. AI works best on processes that are already clear.
Systems integration
Connecting the ERP to e-commerce, logistics, finance, and CRM tools, so data moves once, correctly, and the business has one version of the truth.
ERP and NetSuite leadership
Selecting, scoping, and overseeing an implementation from your side of the table, or rescuing a live system that is fighting the business.
Where AI fits
AI works when the process and the data underneath it are sound.
Most AI projects stall because they start with the tool. I start with the work, then decide what the tools should do.
1
Get the process clear
If people do the same task three different ways, automating it just makes the mess faster. I fix the process first.
2
Connect the systems
AI is only as good as the data it can reach. Clean integrations between ERP, e-commerce, and finance tools come before any model does.
3
Put AI where it pays
Document handling, forecasting, reporting, and approvals are good candidates. I decide where a human stays in the loop and where AI isn't worth the risk.
How it works
A clear start, a steady rhythm, and a clean exit
01
Diagnose
A short, fixed-scope assessment of how the business really runs, where it stalls, and what the systems are and are not doing.
02
Set the rhythm
Weekly cadence, a small set of KPIs, clear owners. The operating system for the company, kept simple.
03
Fix, connect, pilot
Work the priority list: process fixes, system integrations, and small, measured AI pilots, with partner management and hiring input along the way.
04
Hand off
Stay as long as it is useful. When you have a full-time COO or a team that owns it, I step back.
Engagements are typically a monthly retainer for ongoing COO support, or a fixed-scope project for an assessment or ERP advisory. We settle scope and cost on the first call, with no surprises.
About
Mike Flynn
I have spent more than ten years running the internal operations and technical infrastructure of companies large and small, and rolling out the IT and software projects that keep them moving. I am a firm believer in the SaaS model and in systems that fit the way a business really works.
I implemented and managed NetSuite as an in-house administrator before moving to the consulting side, so I know what it is like to live with an ERP after the consultants leave. Much of my work now is deciding where AI fits into a company's processes and systems: where it saves real time, where it needs a human in the loop, and where it isn't worth the risk.
I am also a Principal at Power Cloud Consulting, an Oracle NetSuite Alliance Partner. Connect on LinkedIn.
